Peacock Cancels 4 Popular TV shows before 2025-2026 season, Here is the List of Cancelled Shows, fans Disappointed
A lot is happening in the entertainment world of TV and streaming these days. Few days ago CBS cancelled six popular shows, now NBC Universal’s streaming service Peacock is going on the same path. According to the news now Peacock cancels 4 popular TV shows before 2025-2026 season. These include famous shows “Based on a True Story“, “Mr. Throwback“, “Teacup” and “Hysteria!”. This decision brought a big disappointment for the fans as they were eagerly waiting for the new season of these shows. Look at the detailed review of which TV shows Peacock has canceled before the 2025-2026 season one by one to understand what the viewers are going to miss now.
1. “Based on a True Story” – Ends with a cliffhanger
Peacock’s most talked about show “Based on a True Story”, was doing great for two seasons. Now the show is canceled after two successful seasons. Launched in 2023 starring Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) and Chris Messina in lead roles, this web show made fans in quick time. This web series was based on the story of a real-life couple named Ava and Nathan Bartlett who team up with a serial killer to create a true-crime podcast.
Based on a True Story season one kept viewers hooked because of its thrilling storylines and unexpected twists. The second season ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving many questions unanswered. Fans were expecting the third season to get answers to questions left after the second season. But, now that the show has been canceled, fans will be left wondering what would have happened if the show had continued.
2. “Mr. Throwback” – A unique mix of sports memorabilia and the mafia
The next in the list of shows cancelled by Peacock is “Mr. Throwback”. This mockumentary-style comedy series lasted only one season. The show starred Adam Pally (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Ego Nwodim, Ayden Mayeri, and Stephen Curry himself (the NBA star).
The story of Mr. Throwback show revolves around Danny Grossman (Adam Pally), a sports memorabilia dealer who gets caught in the clutches of the Polish mafia after borrowing money from them. To pay the money back to them, he takes the help of one of his old friends and NBA superstar Stephen Curry. The show represents a brilliant combination of sports, comedy and crime. Unfortunately Peacock decided to shut down Mr. Throwback as well despite a brilliant story.
3. “Teacup” – Another Unique Experiment in the Horror Genre
This news is not good for horror lovers. The horror series named “Teacup“, based on Robert R. McCammon’s novel “Stinger”, has also been canceled. The big names of the show included Yvonne Strahovski (Handmaid’s Tale), Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Diane Rodriguez and Boris McGiver.
Story
Teacup’s story revolves around a Georgia farm. The residents of that firm face a mysterious threat. This show was quite different from other horror shows and was supposed to be a fresh experiment in this genre, but alas, it too ended after its first season despite good response.
4. “Hysteria!” – Horror-Comedy Show with an 80s Setting
The fourth show dropped by Peacock is “Hysteria!”. The show was a unique horror-comedy blend, set in the 1980s era of Satanic Panic.
Hysteria Story
The story begins when a star varsity football player goes missing in a suburb of Detroit. The whole town then becomes suspicious of the members of a heavy metal band “Deathcrunch”, whom they think are occultists.
The Star Cast
The show starred Dylan Campbell, Jordie Stanwyck, Spud, Faith Whitehead, Ben Dandridge, Tracy Whitehead, and Linda Campbell. Despite its 80s nostalgia, dark humor, and suspense, Hysteria second season did not happen.

Did Peacock make the wrong decision?
The news of four peacock tv show cancellations has created a storm on social media. Many fans have called Peacock’s decision wrong, especially fans of “based on a true story”, who were eagerly waiting for the show’s next season. They will now never know what happened to the Bartlett couple.
Fans Reaction on Peacock TV show Cancellations
Some users wrote – “Peacock has once again made a mistake by shutting down great content.” At the same time, some believe that these shows needed more promotion, as many people did not know about them.
Can these shows get a second chance on another platform?
Although Peacock has canceled these shows, there is still hope. It often happens that when one streaming platform shuts down a show, other ones bring it to their platform. For example, shows like “Manifest” and “Luki” were saved by Netflix.
Will any other platform adopt these four shows of Peacock?
Right now there is no confirmation yet, but fans are campaigning on social media with hashtags like #SaveTheseShows.
Cancellation of shows is nothing new in the TV industry, but when a show ends with a cliffhanger, it disappoints the fans. Shutting down these four shows by Peacock has disappointed the audience, but it will also create room for new and fresh shows on this amazing platform.
Can Peacock reconsider its decision?
Well nothing can be said at this moment. It is also possible that some other streaming platform can approach to stream these shows? For now, fans will have to wait and hope that their favorite shows get a second chance.
