Know How Many Post Credit Scenes in Thunderbolts* and Big Hints in Marvel’s new film!
The latest film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Thunderbolts*, has finally been released in theaters, and the film has brought many big surprises for fans. Since the release on 1 May 2025, fans want to know how many post credit scenes in thunderbolts*? Starring stars like Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour and Hannah John-Kamen, the film is being dubbed by critics as “the best Marvel movie in years.” But beyond that, two post-credits scenes from Thunderbolts film give big hints for the future of the MCU.
The story of Thunderbolts*: The birth of a unique team
The film Thunderbolts* is the story of a group that is not like traditional heroes. It includes characters like Yelena Belova (Black Widow), Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), Red Guardian, Taskmaster and Contessa Valentina, who are brought together for a government mission.
The team is named “Thunderbolts*” by David Harbour’s character Alexei Shostakov (Red Guardian), who names it after his daughter Yelena’s childhood soccer team. However, the rest of the team does not like the name.
At the end of the film, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) names the team the “New Avengers”, indicating the future direction of the MCU.
What Happens In The Thunderbolts* Post-Credits Scenes?
First Thunderbolts* Post Credits Scene: Alexei’s Cereal Joke
Thunderbolts* has two post-credits scenes, the first of which is light-hearted and funny. It shows Alexei (Red Guardian) in a grocery store, where he picks up a box of Wheaties labeled “New Avengers”. He tries to impress a woman by pretending that he is a “New Avenger”, but she fails to recognize him and playfully snatches the box and throws it away. This scene reflects the humor of the MCU and makes the audience laugh.
Second Thunderbolts* post credit scene: A glimpse of the future of the MCU
If the first scene was funny, the second Thunderbolts* Post Credit scene is extremely important for the future of the MCU. In it, the entire Thunderbolts* team (now New Avengers) gathers at Avengers Tower (now named Watchtower).
They are seen disputing with Sam Wilson (Captain America) over the trademark of the name “Avengers”. Meanwhile, Yelena (Florence Pugh) mentions “space crisis”, which possibly points towards Avengers: Doomsday.
But the biggest twist comes when an extra-dimensional craft enters the Earth’s atmosphere. Yelena shows satellite images, which show the Fantastic Four logo and the theme of Fantastic Four: First Steps plays in the background.
This is a clear indication that the Fantastic Four are soon going to enter the MCU, whose film will release in July 2025.
The scene ends with the words “New Avengers and Bob will return”, indicating that these characters will return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Critics’ response: “The film that gives the MCU new life”
Clarice Loughrey wrote in her review in The Independent:
“Thunderbolts* is a James Gunn-style team-up film, with superb performances from Florence Pugh and David Harbour. It won’t single-handedly save the beleaguered MCU, but it has all the fun elements that set a precedent for future Marvel films.”
She further added:
“Thunderbolts* stands apart from previous Marvel films, not just because of its indie credentials, but because it’s the first Marvel movie that seems genuinely self-aware. At the moment, it’s the best Marvel movie.”
