CBS Cancels Six Popular Shows Ahead of 2025-26 TV season- Know Which Shows Have Been Closed
There are great changes happening in the television world as CBS makes bold decisions about its programming ahead of the 2025-26 season. As a result CBS Cancels Six Popular Shows to make room for new shows ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 TV season. Out of these six shows some were already in their final stages, but the fans were hoping to see some more. Let us know in detail which shows are now closed by CBS’s and is there any possibility of future return of these famous shows.
Blue Bloods: Ended after 14 seasons
The news about closing the show was already known to the fans of the police drama Blue Bloods. CBS itself in 2023 had confirmed that the Blue Bloods 14th season will be the last one. We saw stars like Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan in the last episode of this show which aired in December 2024. But wait, there is a relief news for fans at least for now. CBS has approved its spin-off Boston Blue.
In this new show, Donnie Wahlberg will once again play the role of Danny Reagan, who starts a new job in Massachusetts. The eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family will be his partner. Its premiere date has not been announced yet, but as expected this new show will be seen in the 2025-26 season.
FBI: Most Wanted Ends with Sixth Season
This popular spin-off show of the FBI franchise has also come to an end now after delivering six wonderful seasons. In March 2025, CBS confirmation about this show came that the sixth season of FBI: Most Wanted would be its last season. This decision to close FBI: Most Wanted after the sixth season even surprised its fans, because the show is going great. It also has good ratings in the Tuesday night primetime slot.
Now the FBI show fans have new hope as they will get similar kind of entertainment in the form of a new show called CIA. Welsh actor Tom Ellis of Lucifer fame is in the lead role. The show will focus on the duo of an FBI agent and a CIA agent who become part of a special task force in New York City. It will be interesting to see if there will be a cameo from any character from FBI: Most Wanted.
FBI: International The fourth season will be the last
Another show in the FBI franchise which is closed by CBS is FBI: International. This famous piece of entertainment is also ending with its fourth season. The show is currently airing and is in its final stage with the last episode to come in May 2025. Despite the huge popularity of the show, CBS took the tough decision not to extend it.
S.W.A.T. Cancelled for the third time, is the journey over now?
The journey of SWAT has been full of ups and downs. This action drama started in 2017 and was a great success. Then it was announced to be discontinued in 2023. But then makers have to renew it after pressure from fans. But CBS cancelled it once again in March 2025.
Main cast member of the show Shemar Moore, has taken to social media and urged other networks or streaming platforms to stream the show. The eighth season of SWAT is still airing on CBS, and there are a few more episodes left. Now it will be interesting to see if any other platform picks it up or not? That is the big question for fans.
Poppa’s House Cancelled After Only One Season
The comedy show Poppa’s House, created by Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., did not get a good start. First its premiere was postponed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Now the news is that it has been cancelled after only one season.
It was the only freshman comedy show this season that was not renewed. A new comedy show called DMV will replace the Poppa House. The return of Poppa’s House to any streaming platform seems to be difficult at the moment due to poor response to the first season.
Summit The journey of the reality show also ended
The reality competition Summit hosted by Manu Bennett is the next show that has been canceled after just one season. In this show, 16 participants tried to reach the top of the mountain under tough conditions by following the rules.
Despite having many exciting and shocking moments, this show also could not attract enough attention from the audience. That is the reason why CBS has not renewed Summit for a second season.
Is the future of these shows possible elsewhere?
It has often been seen in the past that when one network cancels any of the show, some other streaming platforms or networks bring it to their platform. There is a possibility for shows like SWAT and FBI: Most Wanted to be seen on another streaming application. However, in the case of Blue Bloods and FBI: International, it seems difficult, as their spin-offs have already been announced.
What will be seen in the new shows of CBS?
CBS has approved several new shows for the 2025-26 season. Here is the news shows added by CBS for 225-26.
- Boston Blue a spin-off of Blue Bloods

It will be interesting to see how fans react to these changes especially when most of the cancelled shows were going well. Some shows have been allowed to complete with a natural end, while some have been abruptly canceled. It is a time of mixed emotions for fans sad to see some shows go, and hope for some new shows to come. Now the time will tell if any other platform picks up these incomplete shows or if they will become history forever.
