Fan’s long wait ended this Thursday when Chappell Roan The Subway Song released. This was the American singer and songwriter’s most awaited song. The song was in the news since last year, when Roan performed it live at the Governors Ball Music Festival. Since that performance, the song became an eagerly awaited track for her fans.
Roan shared her emotions on Instagram and wrote, “I am very proud of this song and its journey. I first sang it at the Governors Ball when I was painted green like Lady Liberty. I often feel new songs by performing them live.” She further said that she did not know that the year after that performance would be so turbulent, due to which she could not make a perfect music video for this song.
“The Subway” – A story of a Broken Heart on a Subway
The lyrics tell the story of a young woman who bumps into her ex-boyfriend on the subway. The encounter reopens her deepest wounds.
Roan conveys a strange sadness and struggle in her voice as she sings – “I cried on the subway, because I saw you, and you saw me… and yet you didn’t know me.”
As the song progresses, she expresses her hope that one day she will move on from this pain and that her ex will be “just another girl on the subway” to her. But if that doesn’t happen, she jokes that she will run away to Saskatchewan.

But luckily, some survived!” Roan did not forget to thank her fans who waited for the song. “All the waiting and hard work to make sure everything was perfect was worth it,” she said.
Chapel Roan’s Musical Journey – from “Good Luck, Babe!” to “The Subway”
Chappell Roan’s music career has been filled with many hit songs. Her spring single “Good Luck, Babe!” and 2020 song “Pink Pony Club” were top 10 hits. However, in an interview with Rolling Stone in August last year, she said that she would not release “The Subway” after “Good Luck, Babe!”.
“I just love performing it,” she said. “I have two more songs that I really want to perform, but I don’t know what’s next. When I don’t know, it means I haven’t figured it out yet.”
