Rory Sykes- Former Child Star Dies At 32 In California Wildfires

The California Wildfire is giving pain to so many people. Many people including famous celebrities lost their properties to fire. In a very sad incident, Rory Sykes, a former Australian child actor born blind died in California Wildfires despite his mother’s best efforts to save her son when flames engulfed their home. Her mother Shelley Sykes shared this tragic news on X. Rory Sykes was living with cerebral palsy. The incident took place on Wednesday.

Rory Sykes Mother Attempted To Save Him

Rory Sykes mother tried her best to save her beloved son from California wildfires. But, she could not succeed due to the circumstances and the lack of water supply. His mother said “I tried to put out the cinders on his roof with a hose”, but the lack of water made it impossible. With her arm broken and unable to lift her son, she recounted his heartbreaking words: “Mom, leave me.”

Shelley tried everything she could do to save Rory Sykes, She drove to the local fire department and asked for assistance. But, unfortunately there was no water available with the fire department. When she returned back, the cottage was turned into ashes. According to Firefighters, Rory likely succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning during the fire.

Who Was Rory Sykes?

Rory Sykes was a former child actor from Australia. He became famous TV Celebrity with his role in the late 1990s British television show “Kiddy Kapers“. He was blind by birth and had cerebral palsy. But Rory never got disappointed despite having physical challenges. He was an inspiration for so many others who consider physical disability as an obstacle in their success path.

Rory lived on his family’s 17-acre estate in Malibu, California, at the time of his tragic death in the 2025 California wildfires.

Palisades Fire

The fire known as Palisades Fire is getting dangerous day by day. It erupted on Tuesday and took very less time to spread. Till now it has consumed over 22,000 acres. Approximately 5,000 homes and structures are destroyed by the Palisades fire till Wednesday. Shelley Sykes said their home was among those lost.
